Alfaf Organization for Development and Reconstruction was established in 2017. Since the early stages following the liberation of Nineveh Governorate, the organization has operated as voluntary teams and as a network of civil society organizations working inside displacement camps in Nineveh, the Kurdistan Region, and urban areas.

Following the liberation of Mosul city, the organization implemented various awareness-raising and humanitarian programs, in addition to support and empowerment workshops for women and children inside and outside the camps. These activities were carried out with the support of several United Nations agencies, as well as international and local organizations.
